I joined the Elgin Studio in 2016. As a
professional landscape architect, my skills
and techniques for sketching were
developed through my university and post-
graduate training. I have been sketching the
natural and built environments for over forty
years. And in 2015, I published a
monograph, Sketches, in which I shared
over 240 ink and pencil sketches from
Australia and overseas.
While I have traditionally used ink pen and
pencil (particularly Derwent pencils), the
Elgin Studio has provided me with an
opportunity to experiment with a variety of
watercolour techniques.
The following images of watercolour, pencil
and ink come from the Studio’s 2018
October trip to Japan.
