I have always been interested in the lines
ability to indicate both positive and negative
space. This lead me to draw abstract
compositions in black and white.
For me, the introduction of colour restricted
the line’s ability to alternate from defining a
positive shape to defining a negative shape
in the space of one curve. Trying to resolve
this dilemma lead to an exploration of
shapes and colours as symbols and that
closely related symbol/colour combinations
can cause an emotional competitive
responses in the brain, specifically flags, and
logos.
At the moment I am exploring compositions
of strong light entering darkness.
